Oval Head Standards (Standard & Special Rivets)

The OVAL HEAD, SEMI-TUBULAR rivet is the most commonly used rivet. Listed below are standard dimensions for this rivet, as well as a simple method for determing the proper rivet length.

LENGTH CALCULATIONS

The length of the rivet is determined by adding the clinch allowance (see table above) to the total thickness of the work. Specify the length to the nearest fraction.

Example: Determine the length of a 1/8 diameter (style C-1) rivet, for two parts which are each .093" thick.

 

Total work thickness (2x.093") = .186
Clinch allowance for C-1 = .074
Total (.186 + .074) = .260
   
Rivet Length (nearest fraction = .265) 17/64"
